Splotch was first conceived as a tool for researchers in chemistry research laboratories to catalog, share, and eventually publish their experimental thin-layer chromatography (TLC) data. While much of this data often remains unpublished or underexploited, Splotch provides scientists with the capability to quickly capture, organize, and annotate photographic TLC data. While this first application was built with chemistry researchers in mind, we fully intend to expand the feature-set to provide useful tools to a variety of disciplines.
The creators of Splotch are committed to providing quality software tools to researchers in order to enhance the reproducibility of their science. With that in mind, we have decided that our first offering will be completely free to download, use with no advertisements or in-app purchases, and we will NEVER do anything nefarious with your personal or professional data. We promise to maintain the application by providing support for bug fixes, feature enhancements, and other feedback going forward. Our goal is to provide you with a secure tool to streamline your research.
Furthermore, because of our extensive use of open-source development technologies, we are committed to giving back to the open-source community by publishing as many of our components as possible for other developers to use- feel free to check us out on GitHub, we’re always looking for collaborators!
